Downregulation of epithelial MHC II expression in chronic rhinosinusitis with polyps

چکیده
Background Inflammation in the nasal mucosa has been shown to correlate with the development of CRSwNP (chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps). The mechanism behind this is not fully understood but changes in the activity of the immune system might contribute to the growth of polyps. The present study focuses on the potential role of MHC II (major histocompatibility complex class II). These cell surface proteins are of critical importance for the function of cells in the immune system and potentially in nasal polyp development.

Comparison of Expression of Cytokeratin 7 on Epithelium of Nasal Polyps and Mucosa of Chronic Rhinosinusitis
Background and Objective: Nasal polyp is the most common benign mass of the nasal cavity and it is originated from nasal cavity or sinuses. Cytokeratins (CK) are intermediate filament proteins that provide mechanical support in epithelial cells. The purpose of this study was to compare the expression of cytokeratin 7 in epithelium of nasal polyps and nasal mucosa in chronic rhinosinusitis. Mate...
متن کاملExpression of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor in Nasal Polyp and Chronic Rhinosinusitis
Background: Nasal inflammatory disorders such as chronic rhinosinusitis and nasal polyp are among the most prevalent complications with high socioeconomic costs. Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) plays a key role in angiogenesis and cell proliferation. In the present study the effect of VEGF on the development and prognosis of chronic rhinosinusitis and nasal p...
متن کاملImmune Imbalance in Nasal Polyps of Caucasian Chronic Rhinosinusitis Patients Is Associated with a Downregulation of E-Selectin
Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) in Caucasians is a chronic Th2 inflammatory disease of the nasal and paranasal mucosa and the recruitment of leukocytes to the site of inflammation is poorly understood. We studied mRNA and protein expression profiles of adhesion molecules in nasal polyp and associated inferior turbinate tissues using molecular, biochemical, and immunohistologic...
متن کاملLPS may enhance expression and release of HMGB1 in human nasal epithelial cells in vitro
Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps is a common disease with still unclear pathophysiologic mechanisms. The airway epithelial barrier has been shown to be involved in different chronic disorders, including rhinitis, nasal polyposis and asthma. High mobility group box 1 (HMGB1), a primarily nuclear protein, is involved in the induction of airway inflammation in patients with chronic rhinosi...

OBJECTIVES To investigate the up-regulation of chemokine ligand 20 (CCL20) in chronic rhinosinusitis mucosa and to localize the distribution of CCL20 in the human paranasal sinus mucosa. DESIGN Prospective study. SETTING Tertiary academic institution. PATIENTS Ten patients who underwent functional endoscopic sinus surgery for chronic rhinosinusitis without nasal polyps and 10 normal contr...
